I love English and have been teaching it for the last 15 years since completing a degree in English Education. Subjects I tutor include reading, writing, grammar and syntax, and comparative literature. I tutor both high school and college English, and I am happy to help students prepare for college by tutoring them in English, reading, and writing for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. I believe my students see my passion for English when I begin teaching them, and I hope that passion helps them to become passionate about the subject as well. Teaching, individual tutoring, and parenting have given me great insights into learning and led me to develop approaches to critical reading, grammar, and composition that offer a lifetime benefit to my students. I am particularly proud of the strategies I use to assist students in gaining confidence when preparing to take the ACT and SAT. Since learning is a crucial skill, I feel that my main goal is to guide students in determining how they best learn so that they can use those techniques and methods in the future. Outside of teaching and tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my family and volunteering.
