Not only have I been an educator for many years, I also now help teach other teachers. Languages are my personal passion, and I speak and tutor French and Spanish in particular. I help grade the tests of students who want to become French or Spanish teachers, in addition to their current teaching license. I have been a public and private school teacher for sixth through twelfth grade for a decade, and I have worked as a college teacher for six years. I believe that travel is one of the best ways to keep my language skills current, and I spent four summers abroad during my undergraduate studies. I have also traveled for fun to France, Quebec, Puerto Rico, and Switzerland. When I tutor students in language skills, I use all kinds of different methods to help my students learn. I use real-world examples to help students practice speaking and comprehension skills. For example, if we are discussing numbers in a foreign language, I might bring in a television schedule to help them discuss the channel numbers and the times shows are on. I even spend my free time working on languages, not just through travel, but also by attending language clubs nearby.
