Experience
I have a B. A. degree in Psychology, a M.Ed. in Special Education specializing in students with learning or emotional disabilities. I have also earned a M.A. and a Ph.D. in History. Moreover, I have teaching certificates in both Special Education and Social Studies (7-12). I bring to the table more than 30 years of educational experience, both at the high school and college level. I taught high school Social Studies/Special Education for nearly a decade. Later I taught History and Political Science at the college level for 20 years. Throughout my nearly 30 years in the classroom I have blended academic abilities with learning strategies. I have also had a successful research career. Few academics have the hands-on abilities that a Special Education Teacher acquires, combined with the higher level skills of a published academic. I tutor History/Social Studies and related fields on the high school and college level but my emphasis is in preparing students in those skills that are necessary for success in high school, college and the job market. Consequently, I offer High School and College Tutoring, College Preparation, Organizational Skill Development, and Test Preparation. I also work with students vis-à-vis academic writing.
