Experience
I graduated from Shenendehowa High School with top marks in English and science. From there, I pursued my bachelor's at SUNY Geneseo, where I majored in biology. I recently graduated with my masters in biological sciences from Illinois State University. While in graduate school, I spent five semesters teaching biology labs and working with students on a one-on-one basis. In addition, I served as a biology teacher's assistant for a semester, answering questions and coordinating lab activities, and a term as a cross-country ski assistant coach, teaching in a classroom environment. While teaching and tutoring, I gained experience working with students of all ages and backgrounds. I am confident in my skills in elementary to college-level academics. I understand the unique ways in which students can learn, as well as how to motivate a student to achieve anything they want to. I encourage self-confidence through ongoing success on a variety of activities. Each lesson is personalized to suit the student's personality and skill level. By teaching to their individual needs, I can optimize their absorption and understanding of the information we are working on. I can offer homework support and test prep as well. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, hiking and running.
