ExperienceI love tutoring! I love seeing the spark of understanding in a student's face when he finally "gets it." I love seeing the a person who was too unsure to raise her hand in class transform into a confident student eager to learn more. I have a passion for education, an instinctual sense of where a student is getting tripped up or confused, and a patient, friendly approach that helps me break through to even the most confused, shy, and uncertain students.
Throughout my life, I've always jumped at opportunities to tutor my peers and siblings. Throughout grade school, I doubt a week passed where I wasn't sitting at the kitchen table with my little sister, helping her understand her homework. I've tutored students in the private-tutor setting in college and high school physics, and all high school and middle school math, including algebra, trigonometry, geometry, pre-calc and calculus. I've also instructed students as a speech and debate coach for Niskayuna High School. I have a BS in Physics from Union College.
I'm planning to go back to school for a Master's in Education, so that I can augment my instinctual teaching ability with more technical knowledge of the learning process. After school I'd like to set up my own tutoring business and train the next generation of exceptional tutors.
HobbiesI hike, backpack, cook, and juggle, among other things.
